Dr. Eugenia Asare

Resident

Dr. Asare is a first generation Ghanaian-American from Montgomery County, Maryland. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Health Science with summa cum laude distinction from Frostburg State University, located within the Appalachian mountains of Western Maryland. She then earned her medical degree from Morehouse School of Medicine, where her interest blossomed in health disparities, particularly regarding mental health disparities amongst communities of color.

After completing residency, Dr. Asare hopes to pursue a career in community psychiatry in hopes of treating patients from various backgrounds and conditions. In her free time, Dr. Asare enjoys spending time with family and friends, listening to live music and pottery.

Dr. Victor Elensi

Resident

Dr. Victor Edet Elensi was born in Lagos, Nigeria and grew up in Tampa, Florida. He completed his Bachelor of Health Science degree at the University of Florida. While there, Dr. Elensi worked at the Neuroscience Interdisciplinary Clinical and Academic Program and conducted research with Dr. Jay Clugston at the Concussions Center with University of Florida football team. He went on to earn his medical degree from Morehouse School of Medicine. Dr. Elensi is passionate about improving health disparities within low socioeconomic communities. He is also passionate about mental health in the child and adolescent generation.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Elensi enjoys weight training, recreational soccer, and playing piano.

Dr. Paolo Gilleran

Resident

Paolo Gilleran was born in the Philippines and was raised in Columbus, Ga. He graduated summa cum laude from Georgia State University with a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing. He practiced as an ICU nurse for 2.5 years and PACU nurse for 4 years. He graduated summa cum laude from Morehouse School of Medicine with a Doctorate in Medicine.

His interests in psychiatry include interventional psychiatry and outpatient psychiatry. In his free time, he likes to play basketball, watch movies, and spend time with his family.

Dr. Kiyana Harris

Resident

Dr. Harris was born and raised in the South Bronx of New York. Witnessing the many challenges people in her community faced pertaining to medical care is what inspired her to become a physician. She attended North Carolina State University (NC State) where she obtained a bachelor's degree in human biology. She remained at NC State to obtain a master's degree in physiology before matriculating into medical school at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (Georgia Campus).

Kiyana is proud to be the first physician in her family and is excited that one of her residency training sites is Grady Memorial, where her grandmother was born. She hopes to inspire those from communities similar to the South Bronx to dream big and never give up. She is deeply passionate about uplifting underserved communities, addressing minority mental health and even more passionate about assisting the geriatric community. Mental health in the older youth has always been an interest and she is fascinated in how "the mind changes as we age.”

In Kiyana’s free time she loves to write poetry, listen to Hip Hop and R &B, spend quality time with her loved ones, and considers herself a Starbucks connoisseur!

Dr. Terrance C. Jenkins

Resident

Dr. Jenkins was born and raised in Waynesboro, GA, he graduated from Valdosta State University with honors with a BS in Biology, and received a Master's of Science in Medical Sciences from Morehouse School of Medicine. He then received a Doctorate of Medicine from Ross University, where he graduated with honors.

Dr. Jenkins has a passion for addressing the unmet needs of underserved communities. His professional interests include chronic pain, neuromodulation, treatment resistance disorders, addiction, and mental health policy. His research focuses on the interplay between chronic pain and mental health. He is committed to confronting prejudicial thinking and flawed health policies that contribute to systemic inadequacies that impede the establishment of true health equity.

In his free time, Dr. Jenkins enjoys spending time with family and friends, as well as spending time in nature. He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity and enjoys mentorship and working to serve his community.

Dr. Jason Iyobhebhe

Resident

Dr. Iyobhebhe, originally from Lagos, Nigeria, spent the majority of his formative years in Delaware County, PA. Initially driven by the need for financial stability after facing challenges as an immigrant, he developed an interest in healthcare careers during his final year of high school. He further explored various fields within healthcare through summer enrichment programs for minority students, although his initial surface-level attraction to healthcare left him uncertain about pursuing a career in the field. However, everything changed when he was diagnosed with glaucoma at the age of 20. This personal experience led Dr. Iyobhebhe to dedicate his life to providing others with the same life-changing benefits of medicine that he had experienced firsthand.

After completing his Bachelor of Science degree at Millersville University in Millersville, PA, Dr. Iyobhebhe took a gap year and worked with City Year in Miami, FL. This valuable experience allowed him to develop essential skills in leadership and team-building. Subsequently, he matriculated to Morehouse School of Medicine. There, he discovered his true passion for psychiatry. While his initial interest in medicine was focused on matters of the eye, he found a profound connection with matters of the mind and is now fully committed to utilizing his career as a psychiatrist to extend the transformative power of medicine.

Dr. Chanera Philogene

Resident

Dr. Chanera Philogene is originally from the East Coast. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Public Health and a Master of Public Health from Rutgers University. She later received a Master of Health Science degree from Meharry Medical College before matriculating there to pursue her medical degree.

Dr. Philogene is interested in nutritional psychiatry and lifestyle psychiatry, with a focus on integrating evidence-based nutrition, physical activity, sleep, stress management, and other lifestyle factors into comprehensive mental health care. Her professional interests include sports psychiatry, reproductive psychiatry, interventional psychiatry, and collaborative care. She is also committed to advancing equitable access to mental health services in underserved communities and empowering patients to take an active role in their mental health journeys.

Her current goals include continuing to develop expertise in holistic, patient-centered psychiatric care and advancing accessible mental health education and wellness strategies. Outside of medicine, Dr. Philogene enjoys exploring coffee shops, spending time with family, practicing Pilates, and planning events.

Dr. Wahenoor Singh

Resident

Dr. Wahenoor Singh grew up in the various suburbs of Metro Atlanta. He received his B.S. degree in Biology from the University of Georgia. He graduated from the Georgia campus of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and is now a PGY-1 in the Psychiatry residency program at the Morehouse School of Medicine. Inspired by his cultural beliefs and life experiences, he aims to excel in a career in medicine. With continual refinements in medical knowledge, intersectional training, and empathy, he aspires to embrace a biopsychosocial model to focus on systematic mental illnesses, utilize advancements in neurobiology and physio-pharmacology, and improve patients' overall quality of life through an integrative medicine lens.

Dr. Yailee Bangura

Resident

Dr. Yailee Bangura holds a profound passion for comprehending the intricacies of the human mind and facilitating personal growth and healing. She is committed to advancing mental health equity through clinical excellence, advocacy, and community engagement. Drawn to psychiatry, she was captivated by its holistic approach to patient care and its ability to address the psychological, social, and cultural factors that influence one’s health and well-being. She firmly believes in the potency of connection, empathy, and culturally sensitive care.

Dr. Bangura holds a keen interest in child and adolescent psychiatry, community mental health, and the exploration of the intersections between trauma, identity, and resilience. During her medical school years, she actively participated in mentorship and student wellness initiatives, as well as volunteer work dedicated to early mental health education and providing grief support to children and families. These experiences profoundly enhanced her commitment to delivering compassionate and community-informed care to vulnerable populations. Her aspiration is to utilize her training not only to support individual patients but also to foster systems-level transformations.

In addition to her medical career, she pursues various hobbies, including exercise, photography, diamond painting, cooking, and spending time with her friends and family. She firmly believes that creativity, balance, and joy are fundamental to maintaining her presence and effectiveness as a physician.

Dr. Lindsey Gaston

Resident

Dr. Gaston was born and raised in Lilburn, GA. She received her BS in Biology from Georgia State University and completed medical school in Tennessee at Lincoln Memorial University - DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine. She is now in the Morehouse School of Medicine Psychiatry Residency Program.

She is passionate about patient education, advocacy, and empowerment, destigmatizing mental health care, and targeting systemic inequities in the field of psychiatry. She aspires to create a safe space for patient-centered and trauma-informed mental health care throughout her career.

Her professional interests include substance use and addiction psychiatry, correctional psychiatry, women’s mental health, LGBTQ+ mental health, and community psychiatry/ public mental health. Outside of her career in medicine, Dr. Gaston enjoys spending time with her loved ones, listening to music, being in nature, and trying out new plant-based recipes.

Dr. Eden Obomeghie

Resident

Dr. Obomeghie was born and raised in Benin City, Nigeria, and she spent most of her formative years in Houston, Texas. She completed an undergraduate education at the University of Houston majoring in Psychology with a Minor in Biology (and an almost Minor in Chemistry). She later earned her medical degree from Morehouse School of Medicine, where she fostered her deep passion for psychiatry and mental health advocacy, particularly within underserved communities.

Before entering the field of medicine, she worked as a preschool teacher. This experience profoundly shaped her approach to empathy, communication, and understanding human behavior. It also sparked her interest in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and trauma-informed care. She is passionate about using narrative, art, and culture as tools for healing and is especially drawn to creating safe, affirming spaces for marginalized voices in mental health care.

Outside of medicine, she enjoys exploring museums, attending ballet, symphony, and opera, and traveling to new cities that offer rich cultural experiences. Her dream is to build a career that blends clinical excellence with creative expression and advocacy.

She chose Morehouse School of Medicine because of its strong mission to serve the community and its commitment to health equity. She looks forward to growing into a thoughtful and grounded psychiatrist, gaining strong empathetic psychiatric training, and learning from a diverse and supportive environment.

Dr. Miles Simms

Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Dr. Miles Simms proudly brings his roots into every patient encounter. He began his academic journey at Morehouse College, where the legacy of excellence and strong mentorship helped reshape his vision for the future. Although he hadn’t initially seen medicine as a path for himself, largely due to a lack of representation. His experience at Morehouse opened the door to both possibility and purpose.

Dr. Simms went on to earn his medical degree from Morehouse School of Medicine, where he deepened his commitment to psychiatry and to serving communities too often overlooked in mental health care. Now a psychiatry resident at MSM in Atlanta, he is driven to break down mental health stigma and create accessible spaces for healing and wellness.

Guided by the verse, “To whom much is given, much is required” (Luke 12:48), Dr. Simms is passionate about advocacy, representation, and reaching back to help the next generation push beyond societal limits.

In his free time, he enjoys playing golf, running on the Beltline, and trying new restaurants around the city.

Dr. Haeyoung (Jenna) Won

Dr. Haeyoung (Jenna) Won was born in Seoul, South Korea and raised in San Diego, California. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Emory University and her Doctor of Medicine degree from Morehouse School of Medicine.

Dr. Won is interested in pursuing a career in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, with a particular focus on the college student population. In her free time, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her family, friends, and her pet poodle.

Dr. Peiton Jarmon

Resident

Dr. Peiton Jarmon is a Nashville native and is excited to call Atlanta home as she embarks on her psychiatry training. Her interest in medicine grew from a desire to care for people in a way that considers the whole person, including the experiences, identities, and circumstances that shape their health. She earned her bachelor's degree in medicine, Health, and Society and Women, Gender, and Studies from Vanderbilt University and later received a master's degree in pharmacology from Tulane University before completing her medical training at Tulane University School of Medicine.

Dr. Jarmon is especially interested in the connection between mental health and reproductive health. She hopes to pursue a career in reproductive psychiatry, with interests spanning perinatal mental health, maternal suicide, reproductive trauma, and the mental health challenges that can arise throughout different stages of a woman's life. She is passionate about creating spaces where patients, particularly those from communities that have historically been underserved, feel heard, valued, and supported in their care.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Jarmon enjoys creating social media content, exploring new restaurants around Atlanta, walking along the BeltLine, and binge-watching docuseries. She is always looking for her next restaurant to try, a new spot to explore, or a good series to get completely invested in.

Dr. Alexander Martinek

Resident

Alex is originally from South Florida and completed his undergraduate studies in biology and bioinformatics at Nova Southeastern University before earning his medical degree at Morehouse School of Medicine. Before medical school, he worked as a Public Health Fellow in the Office of the Command Surgeon at U.S. Southern Command, supporting global health engagements and biosurveillance. As a medical student, he remained actively involved in community service, digital health research, and mentorship. His academic interests include child and adolescent psychiatry, community psychiatry, digital health innovation, and health equity.

Outside the hospital, Alex enjoys traveling, watching anime, training his stubborn basset hound, Mila, and playing any racket sport — most recently padel.

Dr. Tiffany Pittman

Resident

Dr. Tiffany Pittman was born and raised in Stockbridge, Georgia. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Xavier University of Louisiana in New Orleans before completing her medical degree at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine – South Georgia Campus. Prior to medical school, she worked as a Registered Behavior Technician with children with autism and volunteered with hospice patients. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she created a letter-writing program to help hospice patients maintain connection during a time of increased isolation. These experiences helped shape an interest in psychiatry that would become increasingly apparent throughout her medical training.

While completing clinical rotations throughout rural Georgia, Dr. Pittman witnessed firsthand the significant need for accessible psychiatric care in underserved communities. These experiences strengthened her desire to build a career serving communities where mental health resources remain limited and ultimately drew her to Morehouse School of Medicine and its mission of advancing health equity and serving underserved populations. She currently has a strong interest in geriatric psychiatry and is drawn to the complexity of caring for older adults, where psychiatric symptoms often intersect with medical illness, cognitive changes, and major life transitions.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Pittman enjoys catching up on the latest television series, going to the movies, trying new restaurants, baking, crocheting, working out, and spending time with family. She can also be found competing with her co-residents to see who can log the most steps in their STEP-UP challenges and hopes to return to ice skating at a local rink soon.
