    I chose Morehouse School of Medicine for residency due to its renowned commitment to serving diverse and underserved communities, which aligns with my career goal of making a meaningful impact in healthcare equity. The program's emphasis on holistic patient care and its supportive learning environment were key factors that attracted me, offering opportunities to grow both professionally and personally in a culturally rich setting. Serving the community I grew up in is one of my personal goals, so MSM was a clear choice.

    I chose Family Medicine because of the breath of learning, practice, and scope. I love that I am blessed to take care of newborns and elders within families and communities. It’s beautiful to be able to deliver care at the bedside, in clinic, at a community health event, on the sidelines of a sporting event, on the streets, and in homes. To be able to respond to needs in so many diverse spaces is the essence of Family Medicine for me.

     Why MSM for Training?

    The moment that I interviewed at Morehouse, it felt like home and being reconnected with family. MSM is known for its robust learning experiences, compassionate care, and a strong social mission in health equity, which all align with my professional goals and vision. I was also attracted to the excitement and busyness of training at Grady, the heartbeat of medicine for Atlanta. Residency is hard, and I chose a place where I knew I would enjoy waking up in the morning to go to work.

    Hobbies/Interests:

    I really enjoy gardening and growing my plant babies, enjoying nature (whether doing activities or in rest), watching YouTube vlogs, and spending quiet time with The Lord. I’m also a foodie and loveeee trying new foods and restaurants around the city!

    Why Family Medicine as a Specialty?

    I chose family medicine because of how much it has to offer. I couldn't choose between caring for children or adults, so I chose both. Along those same lines, there is not one body system that I value over the other; all systems are working together for the whole and I value them all equally. Family Medicine is the only specialty that allows you to work with any population you desire, while also retaining every piece of knowledge that you've accumulated over the years to make the best decisions for your patients.

    Why MSM for Training? 

    What I valued most when choosing a residency program was how that place made me feel. The love and support that runs through this program was very evident. MSM is also very active in the community and does not only talk the talk, but truly walks the walk. I wanted to be apart of an organization that is really making an impact in underserved communities and Morehouse is doing just that.  

    Hobbies/Interests:

    I love anything outdoors (ie. river tubing, walks, sitting on the patio). Nature brings me so much peace.  I love art  (museums, art shows, painting classes, etc). I also love gardening and spending time with my loved ones. Anything is fun with the right company. Interests include: preventative, lifestyle, and integrative medicines.

Since childhood, my parents instilled in me altruism and compassion, from serving at homeless shelters to donating to charities for children. At Morehouse School of Medicine, I am very confident that I will have every opportunity to not only learn medicine and grow in my knowledge and skills as a physician, but also constantly show patients how much MSM cares for their health and the well-being of society.

    I chose family medicine because I love the variety it offers, and I admire the relationship family physicians build with their patients. In medical school I also felt that family physicians were the people I felt most like myself around. I'm very happy to have chosen this specialty and I am excited to see where it takes me.

    MSM has become home for me ever since I started medical school. Throughout interview season, it became clear to me that the most important thing in a residency program was feeling happy and comfortable there. At Second Look, when I felt confident enough to sing karaoke in front of a room full of people I barely knew, I realized just how much MSM meant to me and knew I could continue to thrive there.

    MSM was one of the few programs that prioritized JUSTICE- getting to the root of the healthcare issues and trying to figure out to make it better rather than just working around them. That aligned well with my goals of improving community medicine. I also loved how vibrant and enthusiastic the MSM community was when I interviewed.
