MSM S.T.E.A.M. Academy
Inspiring Future Innovators: The MSM S.T.E.A.M. Academy at the Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM), the Office for Educational Outreach and Health Careers is deeply aligned with MSM’s mission to diversify the fields of medicine, health, and science. Through our pipeline programs, we work to increase access and opportunity for students traditionally underrepresented in these areas—starting with the youngest learners.
The MSM S.T.E.A.M. Academy is a dynamic initiative that introduces elementary and middle school students to the exciting world of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM), with a special emphasis on health careers. We believe that curiosity for science and a passion for health begin early—and we’re here to nurture it. Through immersive, hands-on learning experiences, students are engaged in activities designed to spark creativity, build critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and make learning fun.
Our integrated curriculum blends all elements of STEAM—yes, including the arts—to foster a well-rounded, imaginative, and intellectually stimulating environment. Whether building models, conducting experiments, or exploring the human body, students in the MSM S.T.E.A.M. Academy discover how science and medicine connect to their lives—and their futures.

Summer Program

The summer program is an enriching learning experience for students in which the curriculum consists of pre-exposure to rising grade level content based on Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE). To help meet the extracurricular educational needs of our students, thematic programming ranging from engineering/technology to health and healthy bodies, are also included in participants exploratory studies. Lastly, students are engaged in inquiry–based activities that reinforce the curriculum taught during the program and make the content relevant to everyday life.
The summer program is a four-week program run during the month of June from Monday through Friday.
Outside of our staple GSE standards of instruction and routine dissections, we’re introducing exciting new curriculum additions, including sports science, financial literacy, coding, and more. Each session is designed to engage students in innovative ways, helping them discover new passions and build valuable skills. From exploring the mechanics behind athletic performance to understanding money management and creating with code, this summer promises to be both educational and unforgettable.
